State Ethics Officials Seek To Discipline Storey Co. For Misuse Of Office

State ethics officials are seeking to discipline a rural Nevada sheriff for misusing his office.

The Nevada Independent reports Storey County Sheriff Gerald Antinoro allegedly used his office during off-hours to host a child visitation between his wife and her ex-husband.

This is the third publicized complaint in five years against Antinoro.

He faces a potential $8,000 fine for this latest infraction. The commission held a hearing last week over allegations raised in the complaint, and likely won’t issue a decision until either August or October.

Ethics officials said holding the child visitation at the sheriff’s office when it would normally be close constituted violation of state ethics law.

Antinoro is also currently being sued by a former deputy who says Antinoro has faced at least 10 complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment or inappropriate workplace behavior since 2010.
