Survey Shows Growing Distrust Of Driverless Vehicles

A national survey from Triple-A indicates there’s a growing distrust of driverless vehicles.

About 73 percent of drivers polled said they would be too afraid to ride in a fully self-driving vehicle. That’s up from 63 percent in a previous survey.

The erosion in consumer trust of self-driving cars is believed to be connected to  recent high-profile incidents involving autonomous vehicle technology, including a fatal Uber crash in March.

An autonomous shuttle bus that runs through downtown Las Vegas was involved in an accident on its first day of testing. However, the shuttle was hit by another vehicle.

Gov. Brian Sandoval has said that Nevada would be a leader in promoting the driverless-car industry by refining laws to allow for testing.
