Volunteers Continue Work On Las Vegas Shooting Garden Memorial

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A group of volunteers and survivors of the October mass shooting in Las Vegas continue working on making a remembrance garden a beautiful place that survivors and others can visit.

KLAS-TV reports 30 people came out to the Healing Garden on Saturday to decorate the parking barriers around the lot.

Survivor Kristine Schalk says the work provided her with a unique way to move forward.

Schalk was shot in the neck during the Oct. 1 shooting at the Route 91 Harvest music festival at the Las Vegas Strip.

She says while the physical pain is gone, the emotional scars are taking longer to heal.

Organizers say they are planning to hold similar events at the garden in the future including a special event on the shooting anniversary.
