Las Vegas is a step closer to having an art museum built near the Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
The Las Vegas City Council Wednesday approved extending an agreement into 2019 with the nonprofit group Art Museum at Symphony Park.
The Art Museum at Symphony Park is merging with the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno to become a statewide entity.
The group is developing plans and fundraising for the museum, which is one of a handful of projects in the works at the 61-acre Symphony Park.
