The Nevada Independent is reporting that UNLV president Len Jessup has been given a week to resign or be terminated.
The ultimatum follows a formal evaluation in January at which concerns about his practices at the dental school and fundraising and management at the medical school were brought up.
The concerns include the handling of UNLV’s new medical school, where costs have risen to more than twice the initial minimum estimate of $100 million, and fundraising has fallen well short of expectations.
The ultimatum was reportedly given by Nevada System of Higher Education Chancellor Thom Reilly. o
Sources tell the Independent that Jessup’s resignation announcement is imminent, and he is expected to leave UNLV by the end of the semester.
He has been the president of UNLV since January 2015.
