LAS VEGAS (AP) — A prosecutor says he'll seek the maximum prison term for a 40-year-old man convicted of shooting a veteran Las Vegas police officer answering an unrelated call for service in December 2015.
Prosecutor John Giordano says Teag Lanier Fox could face 24 to 61 years behind bars at sentencing Wednesday in Clark County District Court.
A jury found Fox guilty in July of attempted murder, battery and weapon charges in the shooting of Officer Gregory Sedminik at an apartment complex south of the Las Vegas Strip.
According to police, Fox asked Sedminik if he was there to kill him before firing three shots.
Fox was found after a four-hour manhunt, hiding in a golf course community several miles away.
Sedminik recovered from wounds to the arm and upper torso.
He's 54 and still a police officer after 20 years.
