Google Looking For Alternative Energy Source For Nevada Data Center

Google isn’t revealing a lot of details yet about a Northern Nevada data center, but the Nevada Independent reports the company is searching for an alternative source of electric service to NV Energy for that data center.

The Public Utilities Commission heard Google’s request Tuesday for “as much procedural clarity and as much regulatory certainty as possible" on moving ahead with construction and using a minimum amount of energy from NV Energy.

Under state law, large clients are charged hefty exit fees to unplug from the NV Energy grid.
