Petition Calls On Station Casinos For Workers Safety, Health Risks

The Culinary Workers Union has presented Station Casinos’ management at nine of its Las Vegas casinos with a petition calling on the company to protect its workers from health and safety risks.

The petition contains signatures from 100 occupational health professionals, and is the outcome of an academic study on the health and safety of non-union casino workers in Las Vegas.

The study was presented at the American Public Health Association’s 2016 conference, where the researchers found a variety of risks at hotels owned by Station Casinos.

Workers from many jobs including guest room attendants, porters, kitchen and front of house staff described being exposed to unsafe and unhealthful working conditions, including faulty equipment, understaffing, lack of training, and a lack of proper supplies.
