Democratic Utah AG Candidate Drops Out Of Race

A campaign spokesman for Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes says the incumbent Republican wishes his Democratic challenger well after hearing news that he dropped out of the race for health reasons.

Reyes campaign consultant Alan Crooks said Wednesday that Reyes hopes Salt Lake City attorney Jon Harper is all right and that some things are more important than politics.

Reyes also released a statement Wednesday saying he admires anyone who is willing to put themselves before the public in a campaign.

Harper has not released details about his medical issues but says he's withdrawing upon the advice of his doctor. The Democratic Party says it has no details.

Harper was scheduled to debate Reyes Wednesday night for the first time in St. George at Dixie State University.

Reyes is now set to participate in the event alone in a town-hall style event.
