Prison officials say a 41-year-old inmate has died in an apparent suicide at the Lovelock Correctional Center.
Officials with the Nevada Department of Corrections say Oscar Valasquez-Yanez was found hanged in his cell around noon on Tuesday. Authorities say staff tried to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Valasquez-Yanez had been in the corrections system since November 2008 and was serving a term of 8-20 years on an attempted child sex assault conviction out of Clark County.
