LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada is among 13 states that have tightened restrictions in the last two years to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers.
FBI data analyzed by The Associated Press show the state had 94 people shot to death by a spouse, ex-spouse or dating partner from 2006 to 2014. That number included 71 in the Las Vegas area. Nevada lawmakers tried to address the issue with a law last year banning anyone convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence from possessing a gun.
Such laws are a rare area of consensus in the highly polarized national debate over guns.
