Newly released data shows that 40 people died on the job in Nevada in 2014, with the largest number of fatalities reported in the manufacturing industry.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that the Bureau of Labor Statistics data says five of the deaths in Nevada were homicides and four were suicides.
One-fourth of the total deaths in 2014 were transportation incidents and seven were related to contact with objects or equipment.

The data shows that six deaths were attributed to falls, slips or trips.
The manufacturing industry had the largest number of deaths in the state with seven. Construction, government and leisure and hospitality jobs were second with six deaths each.
All but three of the 40 deaths were men.
