LAS VEGAS (AP) — An Oregon wrestling coach who was in Las Vegas on Sunday for a college tournament says he and some of his players were walking down stairs outside the Planet Hollywood hotel-casino when a car came up over the curb and he "heard the motor gun."
Severin Walsh said Tuesday that once all four tires were back on the ground, the female driver sped forward, steering around light poles and street signs to hit people in the crowd.
Walsh says four wrestlers in his group of 20 players and coaches from Pacific University were struck at the end of the crash scene, suffering cuts, minor injuries and soreness that lingered days later.
The 24-year-old suspect, Lakeisha Holloway, has been charged with murder and other counts and is expected to appear in court Wednesday.
The crash killed one person and left dozens injured, some critically.
