The pay-to-play case against former Utah Attorney General John Swallow that involves Sen. Harry Reid is slated to come before a judge on Monday.
Judge Elizabeth Hruby-Mills is expected to set new hearings in the case. State prosecutors say Swallow and his predecessor Mark Shurtleff accepted improper gifts like as beach vacations from businessmen in trouble with regulators.
The hearing comes days after federal prosecutors told a judge they want to sue Swallow in a separate case.
Federal Election Commission lawyers say he helped businessman Jeremy Johnson donate money to politicians to make a fraud investigation go away.
The FEC is already suing Johnson over donations to Reid and others.
Swallow's lawyer says the allegations against him are meritless, and Shurtleff has also denied any wrongdoing.
