Jury Gives Family $2M In Looted Property Case

A federal jury in Las Vegas has put a rural Nevada county and its former elected public administrator on the hook for more than $2 million in damages to three sons who maintained their father's home was looted of valuables after he died in 2006.

Lyon County was ordered to pay $1.6 million to sons of Joe Robinson Mathis, and former county Public Administrator Richard Glover was held accountable for $280,000.

Attorney Brian Irvine, an attorney for the sons, said Friday the county and Glover were also held responsible to pay $217,000 for missing property.

Irvine says he expects an appeal.

The verdict came Tuesday, after a five-day trial.

Lyon County Manager Jeff Page said Friday an appeal decision hasn't been made.

Attorneys for Glover didn't immediately respond to messages.
