Nevada Senate Democrats are endorsing a Clark County deputy district attorney in a key state legislative race.
Senate Democratic leader Aaron Ford announced Monday that his caucus was endorsing Nicole Cannizzaro for Senate District 6 in Las Vegas. She's a Nevada native whose parents were members of the influential Culinary Union.
She attended the University of Nevada, Reno and Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Ford said Cannizzaro is tough, fair and dedicated to public service.
The seat is currently held by Republican Mark Lipparelli, who was appointed to the seat in 2014 and hasn't said whether he will run in 2016.
Republican Assemblywoman Victoria Seaman is also running in the swing district, which includes Summerlin and will help decide which party controls the Senate.
