Study Finds Close Calls Between Drones, Helicopters

As more residents begin to fly drones, the Federal Aviation Administration has found that manned aircraft have been having close calls in Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Sun reports that according to an analysis of FAA data since November, there were four reported incidents in the area in which drones nearly crashed with manned aircraft.

Bard College's Center for the Study of the Drone analyzed the FAA data and found that across the country there were 295 incidents in which there was almost a crash.

In Las Vegas, all four close calls involved helicopters, and one sighting from a small plane.

Officials say if a drone were to collide with a helicopter rotor, it could be fatal for pilots and their passengers.
