LAS VEGAS (AP) — Three colleges in Nevada have been awarded federal grant money totaling $1.1 million for student support services.

The U.S. Department of Education on Friday announced the four grants to three Nevada higher education systems.

UNLV got half the state's total, with about $332,000 for its campus and another grant for $220,000 for its STEM program.

The University of Nevada in Reno also received $344,000 and the College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas won about $248,000.

The grants are a part of the $270 million awarded nationwide for academic and support programs in a push to help disadvantaged students finish schooling, including students of low-income, first-generation and disability backgrounds.
