NV Plans New Anti-DUI Push

Law enforcement authorities have announced plans for continued "aggressive" enforcement of driving under the influence laws across Nevada.

The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, Nevada Highway Patrol and local police agencies held joint news conferences Friday in Reno and Las Vegas to kick off the Joining Forces Impaired Driving campaign.

Officials say officers will be out in force on Nevada roadways looking for motorists who are driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Last year, 284 traffic fatalities were reported in Nevada, 18 more than 2013. Of those, 74 deaths were ruled to be alcohol-related.

Joining Forces is a multi-agency program designed to improve driver behavior by combining enforcement events with national and local media campaigns.
