Nevada Prepares For Potential Ebola Cases

Nevada public health officials say they're ramping up preparations for Ebola after a patient in Dallas, Texas was diagnosed with the disease this week. No cases of Ebola have been reported in Nevada, but officials in the state Department of Public and Behavioral Health say they're communicating regularly with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other states' health departments.

Nevada officials say they've also increased their surveillance work and lab testing capacity so they can quickly detect any potential cases.

Ebola is an often fatal viral disease. The World Health Organization says West Africa is experiencing the world's largest and most complex Ebola outbreak since the disease was discovered in 1976. The Dallas patient had come to the U.S. from West Africa before the diagnosis.
