Martinez Returns To Washoe Post

Washoe County School Superintendent Pedro Martinez returned to work today, following last night’s announcement by the Washoe County School Board that his firing was void.  The board fired Martinez on July 22 nd

The Reno Gazette Journal reports that Barbara Clark, the president of the board, presented a statement saying that the firing resulted from a poor working relationship with Martinez, rather than his status as a CPA, which had originally been given as the board’s reason for the action.  On Monday in an interview with KNPR, Martinez said he wanted to return to his position, but that his lawsuits against the district and the school board would go forward.  He filed those suits last week.
