Homeowners who use solar panels are not pushing extra costs on homeowners who don't use the rooftop devices, according to a study from the Nevada Public Utilities Commission.
The report was published yesterday due to concern that ratepayers might be subsidizing homeowners who install their own solar power systems, a process known as net metering. NV Energy has more than twenty-four hundred such customers in southern Nevada.
The commission will now move forward with a review of whether households that produce some of their own energy should be put in a separate class for rate-setting, The Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection has called to investigate whether the two classes of customers should be created.
