Clark County Budget Set With Winners And Losers

Clark County's general funds budget is set for the coming fiscal year and it includes almost $70 million dollars in cuts. Commissioners voted unanimously Monday for the $1.2 billion general funds budget with $68.6 million in cuts to expenditures including judicial, recreation and general expenses.

The new budget puts Las Vegas Metro into a $20 million deficit. Commissioners did increase the subsidy for University Medical Center from $41 million to $71 million and are considering the possibility of a property tax increase to help the hospital.
