A new grocery store in Las Vegas’ Historic Westside is now open in what had been considered a local food desert.

Following the grand opening on Saturday, the Obodo Collective, in partnership with the Southern Nevada Health District, will provide area residents with the fresh produce that had been hard for them to find.

Their urban farm, which is located at the same site, will provide fruits, vegetables, medicinal herbs, and native desert plants while following sustainable farming practices.

The market will provide the nearly 720 households within half a mile of the store, many without their own transportation, with a nearby place to shop.
