SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Fire danger in California will ramp up with strong winds predicted in Southern California, the San Francisco Bay Area and portions of the Sierra Nevada.
The National Weather Service has issued red flag warnings starting late Sunday for multiple areas of the state. Pacific Gas & Electric is considering preemptively cutting off electricity for more than 8,500 customers beginning Monday morning.
Southern California Edison is considering outages for about 161,000 customers on Monday.
Firefighters in Orange County made progress on a wildfire that had destroyed 28 structures while threatening thousands of homes. But forecasted strong winds threaten to spread the flames.
