Deep Cuts But No New Taxes In Nevada Governor's Budget

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — As Nevada struggles with nation-topping unemployment and enormous revenue loss facing the state's gambling and hospitality industries, Gov. Steve Sisolak released a report on Monday evening proposing measures to plug the state's estimated $1.2 billion budget shortfall.

Two days before legislators are set to convene for a special session to deliberate over a budget plan, the report says the governor is proposing "deep cuts" but no new revenue streams or taxes.

It does, however, leave the door open to expand existing revenue streams by increasing taxes.
