UNLV Providing Story Time For Kids

UNLV’s College of Education is providing story time videos for children online.

UNLV student teachers and professors are reading classic children's books like "The Lorax" and "Goodnight Moon."

Besides providing entertainment and learning for children, the project helps student teachers complete their licensing requirements, the university said.

At the moment, the library has about 50 stories and other videos and resources for parents and teachers, with new videos uploaded daily.

"Parents, on top of worrying about work and potential unemployment, have been thrust into the role of teacher," said Kenny Varner, associate professor of literacy. "And teachers don’t have access to their classroom libraries, so this helps them access a wider variety of books."
