ALAMO, Nev. (AP) — Waterfowl hunters might not have much luck this fall at a wildlife refuge north of Las Vegas.
That's because water levels are lower than normal at the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge in Alamo.
The refuge manager, Rob Vinson, says little rain and hot temperatures have reduced marshes that provide habitat for hundreds of thousands of migratory birds.

He says the refuge is trying to improve conditions by redistributing water at the refuge, but the effort isn't likely to improve hunting conditions.
The refuge has more than 5,300 acres of lakes and marshes. It was established to provide habitat for migratory birds.
