Washoe County Officials: Election Machine Malfunctions May Have Been Widespread

Election officials from Washoe County say problems with voting machines may have been more widespread than first thought.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports there were more than 300 reported machine malfunctions across the state, more than 100 of those were in Washoe County.

Post-election reports show voters in 11 of the state’s 17 counties reported voting machine malfunctions, including glitches that omitted candidates.

In June, Washoe County said it was aware of fewer than 10 voters affected by the problems. Post-election reports later show the number of known malfunctions was closer to 113.

County election officials in Clark and Washoe counties say they are working to resolve any technical issues before November’s general election.
