Assemblyman Ira Hansen and his wife Alexis Hansen have announced their respective candidacies for State Senate and Assembly.
Ira Hansen is a four-term Republican assemblyman from Sparks said he would run to replace retiring Republican Senator Don Gustavson in Senate District 14 instead of seeking re-election.
The Nevada Independent reports the announcement came as Hansen and his wife celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary Wednesday night.
Less than a half hour later, Alexis Hansen announced she would run to replace her husband in Assembly District 32 seat.
Ira Hansen is known for being staunchly conservative, voting against proposals backed by Governor Brian Sandoval and the majority of his party. Alexis Hansen is a businesswoman and the former president of the Sparks Republican Women.
