Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske confirmed a run for reelection in 2018.
Cegavske told the Nevada Independentthat she has a lot of things she wants to finish with a re-election. The Secretary of State’s primary duty is serving as the state’s chief elections officer, but the office also enforces state securities laws and issues business licenses.
After President Donald’s Trump’s claims of election fraud, Cegavske announced earlier in the spring that she had evidence of three non-citizens voting in the 2016 election.
Cegavske also addressed her health, saying she has been two years cancer free since her diagnosing of breast cancer during her first term as secretary of state. It remains to be seen who will jump in the race as Cegavske’s primary or Democratic contenders.
