Nevada lawmakers have inched closer toward a massive health insurance expansion.
A bill introduced by Democrat Michael Sprinkle would give the state’s 2.8 million residents access to a public health insurance option. The Legislature passed the bill on Friday, which would allow anyone to buy into Medicaid. Nevada would become the first state to open the government-run program to all residents, regardless of their income or health status.
Governor Brian Sandoval has not given an indication on whether he will sign the bill.
