Nevada Signs Deal With Bancroft To Defend ESA Program

Nevada officials have approved a new contract with the prestigious law firm that's helping defend the state's Education Savings Account program.

The Nevada Board of Examiners voted Tuesday to approve a $125,000 agreement with Bancroft PLLC, the law firm of former U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement.

Clement has argued more cases before the U.S. Supreme Court since 2000 than any other lawyer, and representatives from the Nevada Attorney General's Office called the contract a bargain.

State officials previously approved $295,000 for Bancroft's help fighting the two lawsuits at the district court level.

The new contract covers work the firm will do at the Nevada Supreme Court to appeal a hold that a lower court placed on the program in January.

The program provides state funds for private school tuition.
