LDS Church Now Considers Mormons In Same-Sex Marriages Apostates

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Mormons in same-sex marriages are apostates and any children of same-sex couples are no longer able to join the Church until becoming of age, moving from their parents' home, and renouncing same-sex relationships themselves.

The New York Times reports the Church's new rules, which are markedly stricter than previous doctrine, were distributed to church leaders Thursday.

Under the new rules, Mormons in same-sex marriages may face excommunication from the Church.
