Lissa Townsend Rodgers, a longtime Desert Companion contributor and friend of NVPR, just had her first book published. Titled Shameless: Women of the Underworld, it centers the work, as it were, of law-breaking — or at least law-dismissive — ladies who refused to know or be put in their place as passive mobster arm candy. Lissa will be presiding over the Mob Museum’s courtroom venue and talking about the six women in her book. They include Virgina Hill, who was famously linked to Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel, and Liz Renay, who was occasionally mobster arm candy but became (and did) so much more. Lissa will also be signing copies of her book afterward. I mean, can you think of a better way for a Vegas museum to commemorate the end of Women’s History Month?
