UNLV Symphony Orchestra plays Richard Strauss

UNLV Symphony Orchestra plays Richard Strauss

Richard Strauss was one of the most brilliant orchestral composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His music demands technical precision, tonal depth, and expressive maturity from every section of the orchestra.

UNLV student musicians are tackling two of his most substantial works. Don Juan (1888) established Strauss as a major voice in European music — bold, virtuosic, and dramatically charged. The Suite from Der Rosenkavalier distills the richness of his famous opera into sweeping waltzes, lyrical solos, and complex orchestral textures.
