The Story of the Lake Mead B-29

The Story of the Lake Mead B-29
The Lake Mead B-29 found its way to the bottom of the lake in July of 1948 while it was serving as a Cold War flying laboratory in search of cosmic rays and other high-altitude phenomenon. No one was killed in the crash, but the plane itself was not seen again until 2001.
DRI’s Jeff Wedding and Sue Edwards will look at the scientific successes of the plane, why it came to rest on the bottom of Lake Mead and the decades-long quest to find it. They will introduce you to a few of the famous and “infamous” people associated with the aircraft and discuss the ongoing efforts to better understand and preserve it.
