The Art and Science of Arachnids

The Art and Science of Arachnids

Produced by Little Ray’s Exhibitions, the interactive exhibit explores how arachnids have shaped ecosystems, inspired art and folklore, and contributed to scientific discovery through hands-on learning, live animal encounters, and immersive art for visitors of all ages. Designed to blend biology, culture, and creativity, the exhibit allows guests to observe live arachnids up close in safe educational enclosures, marvel at larger-than-life sculptures, and explore artwork celebrating these influential creatures.

In honor of its opening, the museum will host a special celebration – included with museum admission or membership – on March 21 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., featuring hands-on activities, critter connection experiences hosted by trained educators, and engaging exhibits. Throughout the day, visitors will have a chance to learn web-weaving techniques, experiment with the properties of silk, investigate prehistoric arachnids through fossils, examine molts, and create arachnid-inspired art. Visitors can also learn and perform the Tarantella Dance and discover how arachnids have influenced art, film, literature, medicine, and conservation.
