Wendy Chen's debut novel, Their Divine Fires, is an intimate story interwoven with folktale and myth, shaped by the love affairs of three generations of Chinese women across one hundred years of revolutions, both political and personal.

Drawing on the lives of her great-grandmother and her great-uncles, who fought on the side of the Communists, and her mother’s experiences during the Cultural Revolution, she infuses Their Divine Fires with a passion that will transport the reader back to powerful moments in history while bringing them close to women who persisted despite the forces all around them.

Wendy Chen is the author of a poetry collection and her writing has appeared in some pretty prestigious publications and has even been adapted into musical compositions. Dr. Chen is an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at UNLV.
