PARASITE

PARASITE

This week at the Lab: PARASITE. It's a discussion of contemporary surveillance and the omnipresent gaze. Challenging autonomy through obscuring, cameras, and installation, this exhibition aims to aid the navigation of the perilous digital world.

Cida de Aragon, M.F.A., is a media artist and photographer who has been working extensively on the theme of “surveillance”, in the United States, Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom, since 2000. Her work is characterized by its interdisciplinary approach, incorporating elements of installation art, video, photography, and sound.

Day Monar is an interdisciplinary visual artist based in Las Vegas whose work explores the relationships between art, technology, and personal identity.

Iulia Octavia’s work addresses gendered violence against women through the visual language of penetrating and perforating to evoke the feeling of bodily invasion. Using sound, light, and surveillance, she creates sociological lures and traps.

The Lab is a temporary project space inside el Mercado at the Boulevard Mall. The project is run and designed by the Arts Community Coalition Nevada, a 501(c)(3) for the longevity of art in Nevada. Every week hosts a new exhibition inside the space.
