Our 9th Island: Art of the Hawaiian Diaspora
This is a group show, featuring a handful of local artists who have a connection to Hawaii. It demonstrates how those artists stay connected to their native culture, while also being influenced by other cultures. They do this through the creation of paintings, drawings, carvings and, of course, lei. Hawaii has a rich artistic tradition and an instantly recognizable aesthetic. So, I would imagine this show will be accessible to everybody, not just art consumers.
