If you’ve ever looked at our local desert and thought, “This could be art,” then you’re not alone — Michael Dodson has, too. His newest exhibit at Left of Center Gallery draws inspiration from cacti, drought-tolerant flowers, and other features of our arid environment to create vibrant patterns on canvas. His work looks like it was lifted directly from a biology textbook then given a splash of psychedelic whimsy — a unique commentary on the fundamentals of life in the desert. On view every Wednesday-Friday 12-4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. through October 14.
