John Chang's acrylic abstract paintings are inspired by traditional Chinese calligraphy. Chang dreams in many worlds and brings back remnants. In his new works, people come and go; yet no one is seen.

The migrators leave their shadows in the air and their marks on the sidewalks. Their words and echoes float through storms of sharp, black fragments flying in all directions. Chang's East/West identity enriches his memory and brings flashbacks from lives lived in many places

Born and raised in Shanghai, China, John Chang is an artist based in Southern California. Artspace Gallery hours on Saturday are 8 to 5, closed on Sunday. Runs through November 23.
