Documentary Oyate highlights fight for Indigenous rights

Documentary Oyate highlights fight for Indigenous rights

In 2016, the people of Standing Rock Indian Reservation formed a coalition of unprecedented magnitude to defend their land and water from the threat of the Dakota Access Pipeline. This documentary is a chronicle of that fight, featuring Indigenous activists, organizers, and politicians.

They discuss the #NoDAPL movement, illuminate the interconnectivity among the issues facing Indian Country today, and look towards a more sovereign and sustainable future for their people. Those offering perspective include Chase Iron Eyes, Phyllis Young, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, Tokata Iron Eyes, and Stuart James.

Following the screening, a discussion with the filmmakers. No charge, but you do have to reserve your spot. The first 100 people to reserve tickets will receive a gift bag.
