John Hiatt explores the hidden systems that make the Spring Mountains one of the most important natural features in Southern Nevada.

A Presentation with Conservationist John Hiatt

Rising to nearly 12,000 feet, Mount Charleston acts as a true “island” in the Mojave Desert, capturing rain and snow that soak into the ground and move downhill through the mountain’s aquifers. This water once emerged in abundant springs: the very source that made early settlement in the Las Vegas and Pahrump Valleys possible.

Simply put: Las Vegas owes much of its existence to the water born in the Spring Mountains - and understanding this relationship is key to understanding our region’s past, present, and future.

Whether you love hiking, care about water issues, or are curious about the natural forces that sustain our desert home, this talk will offer fresh insight into the mountains we often take for granted.

Light bites and beverages will be provided by Bronze Cafe!

Zoom tickets are available for those who are unable to attend in person. Please note, you must select the appropriate ticket type to ensure that you receive the Zoom link prior to the event.
