Big Boys at the Lab
Big Boys at the Lab
This week at the Lab: Big Boys. Works by Chris Bauder, John McVay, and Isaac Roman Quezada offer an evaluation of masculinity, which is a thematic translation of the Masculine Masquerade, a 1995 exhibition at the MIT List Visual Arts Center. After 30 years, discussions of gender, masculinity specifically, rock between progressive and oppressive. Even now, these ideologies and underlying expectations of masculinity shape patriarchal-leaning societies and fuel the clawing and scraping with bloody knuckles of ‘an ideal form.’
The Lab is a temporary project space inside el Mercado at the Boulevard Mall. The project is run and designed by the Arts Community Coalition Nevada, a 501(c)(3) for the longevity of art in Nevada. Every week hosts a new exhibition inside the space.
