"Pot for Pets" Bill Not Just For Sick Puppies

There is a lot more to a proposal that would allow pet owners to get medical marijuana cards for their animals.

A proposal introduced in the state Senate this week would permit the use of pot for ill and ailing pets.

Under SB 372, Nevada pet owners could obtain a medical marijuana card for their animals with a veterinarian’s recommendation.

However, that provision is just a small part of a larger set of updates to medical marijuana legislation.

Democratic State Senator Tick Segerblom is the sponsor of the bill.

Segerblom says aside from the section enabling pets to receive a prescription for marijuana, SB 372 addresses a number of human concerns, such as new standards for driving under the influence of marijuana, a provision allowing county-to-county sales of medical marijuana crop within the state, and protections for employees who have medical marijuana cards.

St. Sen. Richard "Tick" Segerblom, D-LV
