Electronic music DJ Deadmau5 will headline Clark County's kickoff event for the revitalization of Commercial Center in east Las Vegas.

The "Burning Man-style" art and music event will be free to the public on Thursday, May 18. Gates will open at 6 p.m., and local group Bella Strings will perform at 7 p.m. Local rocker Franky Perez will go on at 8 p.m., and Deadmau5 will play at 9 p.m.

The county said to expect food trucks, drink stations and dozens of local artists dotting the large shopping center near Sahara Avenue and Maryland Parkway.

“The Fabulous Commercial Center Block Party signifies the reemergence of an area that for decades was considered to be the very center of Las Vegas,” said Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom in a written press statement. “It kicks off an initiative to bring excitement and the arts back to the larger South of Sahara Avenue District.”

Parking is limited, so organizers recommend using ridesharing. Small, clear plastic bags will be allowed inside the event.
