Education, Housing, Immigration

In your opinion, how would you rate the state’s response to the pandemic? Why?

I would say a C-. In many cases the State over reacted. Mask mandates & shutting down schools, churches, businesses, but leaving casinos, strip clubs, malls open that hurt small business owners.

Education and local government officials have long asked lawmakers to change the way the state assesses property taxes. That includes raising the current tax threshold. Should lawmakers consider raising those thresholds? If not, what is the best way for governments to raise money for local programs?

Before taxes are raised a full audit of every program, departments, etc needs to take place.. Look if any departments, programs are duplicated or can be consolidated. After that, some departments charge fees for using them. Keep those fees apart from the General Fund. If those fees do not cover department budget, only then should their Budget be xtra funded. Department Heads should do a self audit every 90 days and show where money came in and where out.
