Gov. Sisolak Outlines New Social Distancing, Face-Covering Rules For Schools

Governor Steve Sisolak has issued new social distancing and face-covering guidelines for Nevada schools.

In the new emergency directive announced Tuesday night, everyone in schools - including students from preschool to 12th grade - must wear a face covering.

The governor also said that students in elementary through middle school can maintain a three-foot distance. Students in high schools must continue the recommended six-foot distance.

Faculty and staff must also continue to keep a six-foot distance. Schools with a low rate of transmission of the coronavirus can ask for a variance on the rules.

CCSD has already decided not to return to in-person learning for the first nine weeks of the school year. The Washoe County School District is considering delaying a return to classrooms as well.

The governor also allowed schools to reopen athletic fields for games and practices.
